What Is Trek Like?

If you know me, you know I love hiking,⛰ but many people have questions about what trek is like...🧐

It means long days of walking, and for this next one, it will be in the heat with bugs🐜 (just a typical July in Manitoba). It means sleeping with someone you just met, it means no flushing toilets and often just a hole in the ground to do your business.💩 It means walking when you're told to walk, and stopping when you're told to stop.🛑 

It is an incredible experience and I would love to walk with you while I train to talk more about it! 😀

I Couldn't Be Happier For This Couple!

This is a story of perseverance and being willing to do what it takes to win. In this market, we saw a lot of homes that were sooooo close to being right, but still needed so much work, and there were only 2 homes that we walked into and everything felt perfect. The first was a hard loss, one where we gave it our all and still it wasn't enough.

When we walked into this one it felt even more right. It felt like home, and we were ready to go after it. We pulled out all the tricks and gave it 110% and we were so happy to land this win. It is an incredible home with a fantastic history and it is the perfect place for the two of you to start an incredible life.

I am so happy I got to work with you again, it was an honour and a privilege, and while I hope our paths cross again soon, I hope that you have many many years here before I work with you again.

It is startling to know the number of active cases that are out there right now... the number of people who are turned away from shelters because they are already bursting at the seams, and the sheer number of people who are affected. 🤦‍♀️

Would You Live In A Home Someone Died In?

Would you live in a home someone died in??? 🤔 (seriously, comment below) 

I asked this recently in a poll, and most said yes... but it also depended on how the person died in the home. A nice peaceful death after a long life... sure... murder or suicide was a hard no...😵 

So I am curious, what is your opinion? 🤷‍♀️

People Are Worried

Clients have been reaching out worried🫣 about the current state of, well life in general, and wondering if it is still a good time to buy a home. So here is my 2 cents.🤑 

Go with what is certain. If you lock in a 5-year rate right now, you will know your payments for the next five years.

Is your job secure? If so, then you also know what your income will be going forward.✅

Theoretically, if you sign a 5-year term on your mortgage, there will be someone new in office by the time your renewal comes up. 

And then... will the market crash? Could it... sure.. but the pendulum would have to swing very far in the other direction for that to happen.👈

We Have A Scholarship Available To One Incredible Student

Are you or someone you know a Gr 12 student in the St. Vital👈 area? Then you are going to want to pay attention as we have a scholarship💰 available to just one incredible student this year! 

You must be a high school student attending either Glenlawn Collegiate, Collège Jeanne-Sauvé, or Dakota Collegiate.

This scholarship requires applicants to submit a video, which must be no longer than 5 minutes⏱ in length.

In the video, applicants should discuss their involvement in the community and any volunteering experiences they have had.

Additionally, applicants are asked to tell us about why they love❤️ their neighbourhood, their goals after high school, and why they want and deserve this scholarship.

This scholarship is aimed at recognizing students who have made a positive impact in their neighbourhood, have clear post-secondary goals, and have the desire to continue giving back 💯 to their community.

Please state your full name, the school you attend, the name of your current guidance counsellor, their email address, and lastly attach your application video to the email.✅

Scared Of Cracks In Your Home?

I think it is very common to be scared of cracks in drywall,😬 in your own home and in future homes that you may be buying... but welcome to my own home... and the cracks that come and go every year. 😣

The separation between the countertop and the wall just goes to show how much a home can shift! It is wild.🙃 Our house is straight and solid, the basement floor is in perfect condition, only a 20-year-old home, and yet this still happens every single year. While some cracks are reason to cause concern, things like this are also very normal in the Winnipeg climate and soil type. 😊

The Largest Transition

With one generation moving out of their homes and beginning to downsize we are seeing the largest generational transition of both wealth and "stuff"

This is a generation that was able to build massive wealth in their homes, selling them for significantly more than what they bought it for, and probably living in a paid-off home for years.

This generation also loved nicknacks and tchotchke; they kept numerous items "in case they ever needed it" and wanted to keep most to hand down to their kids. The biggest problem is that those tchotchkes don't have value now, and the kids don't want the stuff. Old solid wood tables haven't come back in style (yet), and thus, prepping a home for sale is a daunting task.
